Foundation Stage - Nursery

With its tremendous outdoor and indoor facilities, our nursery offers an excellent start to your child’s education at Walton Primary

Admissions

Offers of nursery places are sent directly from the Education department in the term before your child is due to start. Once you have confirmed in writing that you still require this place, your details will be forwarded to the school. You will then be informed by the school as to your child’s starting date. You will also be told whether your child will attend the morning or afternoon session. Your child will have the opportunity to visit the nursery prior to starting in September.

Sessions

There are two Nursery sessions each day. The morning session starts at 8.45am and finishes at 11.45am and the afternoon session starts at 12.15pm and finishes at 3.15pm. Each session is supervised by a fully qualified teacher and senior teaching assistant, giving a ratio of 1 adult to 13 children.

Foundation Stage – Reception

In Reception, children continue their Foundation Stage education.

Walk into our reception classes and you will expect to find children engaged in a fantastic range of stimulating, child-centred learning activities. We have excellent indoor and outdoor spaces which are all linked to encourage free-flow, allowing children to interact and enjoy a broad range of activities.

Year 1

Year 1 has been brought in to the Lower Phase to facilitate the smooth transition between the EYFS Curriculum and the National Curriculum.  We believe it is imperative that all our children make the most of every minute they have at school and believe we are helping them achieve this by smoothing the transition between these key phases.
