Jonathan Alton

I have two children who attend Walton Primary Academy and they love the school and I wanted give something back to the school community so I joined the governing body. Also, I want to assist the school in its efforts to make learning enjoyable and achievable for all the children.

I believe that a good education is of vital importance so that everyone is able to have options available to them in their life. The experiences of children in primary education has a huge impact on the lifelong learning journey of everyone in the community so I hope, as a governor, is to assist the school in its quest to continue to provide excellent learning opportunities for each child.

I have worked in education since 2001 and been teaching since 2004. This gives me a wide knowledge of education especially as I have worked in both post-16 and pre-16 education. In my current professional role I am involved in improving and promoting the standard of teaching and this aids me in my role as a governor at Walton. I have also been involved in community sports projects in the past and I currently run an annual charity golf event and my organisational skills are of benefit to the school’s governing body. However, I think the most important aspect that I bring to the governing body is that I am a parent as well as an education professional and I am able to see both sides of decisions regarding education.
