Parent Teacher Association
Hello, we're the PTA
Walton Primary Academy PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a group led by parents and supported by Mr. Harpham and his team. As a charity, we create opportunities for mums and dads to play an active part in the life of the school and create fun and rewarding opportunities for the children through events, activities and fundraising.
At present, the PTA committee representatives are:
- Chairperson: Gemma Milburn
- Vice Chairperson: Anita Ashby
- Treasurer: Catherine Phillipson
- Secretary: Melanie Astin
- Social Media and Communications Officer: Kirsten Stalker
Typically, we have two meetings a term including an AGM in either September or October. Meetings are in the school (although we have been known to meet in the pub from time to time).
Fundraising - our brilliant events
Being part of the PTA means you get to play a part in loads of great events. The spooky Halloween disco, the glamorous fashion show, cake stalls and the highly popular Christmas and Summer Fairs – to name but a few.
Through the generous support of parents and the community we raise thousands of pounds each year that goes to fund important equipment, resources and experiences for the children. Recent examples include the funding the outdoor classroom, interactive whiteboards, tablets and maths equipment and supporting trips to reward the children’s achievements.
How do we use the funds we raise?
We work closely with Mr. Harpham to identify the areas of school life that aren’t able to be funded by the school’s own limited budget. In recent years we’ve funded the extremely popular ‘forest school’ area, new IT equipment including laptops and iPads, maths and reading resources, school trips and treats for the kids. All of this relies on the generosity of parents, grandparents and other supporters of our events.
Join us - we're a nice bunch
The current PTA members come from all walks of life and we’ve built a strong team that makes a real contribution to the life of the school.
We love to see new faces and if you would like to help out, we can certainly find a valuable role for you. The level of commitment is totally up to you – whether that’s a couple of hours at an event or joining us at our meetings and sharing ideas.
Stay in touch - Facebook Page
In 2019 we have a busy programme of events including cake stalls, discos and school fairs. We would be extremely grateful if you could help out at these events and support them in any way – just a few hours a term would be great.
Please see our Facebook Page for full details.
We’re also very pleased to fund the Year 6 Prom which is always a lovely way for the Year 6s to say goodbye to the school.
Hope to see you soon!
