Welcome to our school
It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself as the new Headteacher at Walton Primary Academy and to welcome you and your children to what promises to be a hugely exciting year for the school. I am incredibly proud to have been asked to lead the school and continue its excellent progress as a setting for inspirational learning.
Firstly, I would like to thank Mr Dickinson for his hard work and dedication to the school since he arrived at Easter 2012. Walton Primary Academy has made huge progress in this time and I am keen for this to continue. As you know Mr. Dickinson won’t be a stranger to the school in his new role as CEO of Waterton Academy Trust and I look forward to working with him as part of the Trust to further enhance the progress and enjoyment of learning for all our children.
I have over 15 years’ experience of primary education as a teacher, coordinator, phase leader, Assistant Headteacher, Head of School and Headteacher in Sheffield, Barnsley, Wakefield and Kuwait. In all settings, the progress and outcomes for all learners has improved dramatically. I look forward to working closely with the staff and governors to ensure that this continues to be the case at Walton.
My expectations of the pupils in terms of their achievement, progress and behaviour are very high. I expect all members of the school team, parents and the community to uphold the values of respect, compassion, courtesy and cooperation. Your support in reinforcing these high expectations is very much valued.
I have great confidence in the teaching and support team here at Walton Primary Academy. They have proved to be very effective in meeting the needs of our children. It’s essential that their development continues to ensure that we have consistent quality first teaching as well as strong leadership at all levels.
These are exciting times here at Walton Primary Academy and I look forward to the journey...
