At Walton, we have developed a reputation for excellence in our use of the PE Premium to improve outcomes and opportunities for our school community. We believe physical activity can be the gateway to a healthy life for children.
PE & Sport are fundamental to our ethos and vision and our School Values of Fortis (courage), Doctus (curiosity), Amicus (friendship) and Verus (truth) can all be developed through physical activity. Our school community has seen first-hand the difference that PE & Sport can make to the lives of our children, and the opportunities that it can present. PE is about so much more than sport or competing, it’s about developing a positive attitude to both mental and physical health, and can provide a wealth of opportunities for social development. We strongly believe that there should be equality between all groups of children in PE & Sport, and strive to provide this.
What is the Sport Premium?
This Sport Premium is an allocation of funding, in addition to main school funding, which the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport jointly provide, to improve the quality of Sport and PE for all children. The Sport Premium is used to develop or add to the PE and sport activities that we already offer and to build capacity and capability school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining us in the future.
We place a significant emphasis on the sustainability of our PE & Sports spending, to ensure that if the funding is ever stopped, our offer will not be impacted, and our pupils will still have access to the award-winning and renowned provision that we provide. We have built strong relationships with various organisations, individuals and sports teams and strongly believe in the awe & wonder that sport can provide.
The Sports Premium is due to end in 2026.
Who is Eligible?
The Sport Premium is for all children in school. We use the funding to support pupils in every year group, regardless of background, disability or gender. The benefits of PE & Sport are far reaching, to both mental and physical health and academic success. Our offer is open to all children, and we work closely with our partner organisations to provide additional opportunities both in, and out of school.
