Curriculum Overview

Ensuring high standards of teaching, engaging lessons and that pupils can know more and remember more is at the heart of our curriculum.

At Walton, children come from a wide catchment, a variety of backgrounds and with different experiences and knowledge. Our ambitious curriculum builds upon these starting points and ensures that all children have equal access to the breadth and depth of our offer, regardless of barrier. We use the Cornerstones Curriculum as a foundation, alongside a range of nationally recognised programmes and our own bespoke curriculum work and as such, is protected by copyright in terms of online publishing. This is carefully adapted to meet the needs of our children, ensuring learning is well-sequenced, builds progressively over time and prepares pupils for the next stage of their education.

Across the curriculum, we develop key learning skills including resilience, communication, teamwork, problem solving, reflection, and critical and creative thinking. Learning is enriched through educational visits, visitors, practical experiences and a broad range of extracurricular opportunities. Our motto, ‘Moving Forward Together’, runs through everything we do. Our curriculum is built on high expectations, ambition and the belief that every child can succeed, as we work together to help every pupil achieve their very best.
