Walton Primary Academy is at the heart of a proud community.
As the founding school of Waterton Academy Trust, we are incredibly proud of our heritage and the important role our school continues to play in the lives of local families. Situated in the beautiful village of Walton in West Yorkshire, our community is steeped in history and closely linked to the legacy of Charles Waterton, the pioneering naturalist and conservationist whose curiosity and determination continue to inspire us today.
Whilst we are proud of our traditions and history, Walton is also a forward-thinking school where children are encouraged to embrace new opportunities and achieve their very best. Our school provides a bright, engaging and nurturing environment where high expectations sit alongside a deeply inclusive ethos. We continually seek new ways to enhance our provision and ensure that every child has access to the experiences, support and opportunities they need to flourish.
We are home to children from Nursery to Year 6, with a 1.5 (45 children) intake in each year group, and are often oversubscribed. Children join us from a range of local pre-school settings and our own school-based nursery and quickly become part of the Walton family. We are fortunate to have extensive grounds, including our Forest School provision, which enriches our curriculum and supports children’s wellbeing, personal development and love of the outdoors.
Our dedicated and experienced staff team is committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued and supported to succeed. Many families have longstanding connections with the school, with generations of Walton children having passed through our doors (and our predecessor schools) over the years. We believe that schools are built on relationships, and we are proud of the strong partnerships we share with our families and wider community. Together, we continue Moving Forward Together, creating a school where children feel they belong, develop a love of learning and leave with the confidence to embrace whatever comes next.
