A proud member of

Pupil Wellbeing

Pupil wellbeing is paramount our children being ready to learn. We have a strong pastoral offer that is built on a culture of inclusivity and support.

Through a carefully planned approach to personal development, our pupils acquire the knowledge and develop the skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and become resilient, informed and responsible citizens. Through our wider offer, we also support pupils (and families) through difficult times, and with a wide range of concerns. Wellbeing isn’t just a part of our curriculum, it’s the spine of our school. We believe that children learn best they are happy, regulated and safe and strive to ensure every child feels this way, enabling us all to move forward together.

Support in School

We have a number of ways we can support children in school too.

OneLife

OneLife

We are a OneLife school, and this forms the spine of our PD & Wellbeing curriculum, but is so much more! Mental, Physical and Social health are a golden third through daily life at Walton. Children practise daily journalling and affirmations, and we speak openly about wellbeing.

Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid

We have several staff trained as Mental Health First Aiders, and they have received specialist training to help support everyone in school.

Learning Mentor

Learning Mentor

Miss Rust is our Learning Mentor and works full-time in supporting children with a range of issues such as bereavement, anxiety and friendship issues.

Parent Support

We also run a number of parent workshops, designed to give parents the tools and skills to support children at home.

External Services

We work with a number of external services, including Future in Minds and other local services.

Physical Health

We firmly believe that exercise and good physical health is key to good mental health, so we have an outstanding PE & Sport offer so that all of our children can be active!
